Orange flower Emma hobo bag

This beautiful orange and green floral fabric was found in a trash and treasure shop in Newtown, Sydney a year ago. Sometimes, it’s hard to actually make that first cut in to a fabric you have fallen in love with – but it has to be done. This fabric has been transformed in to an elephant and now a hobo bag – the Emma hobo bag designed by SusieDDesignsUK. The calico lining was found in a Melbourne op shop, in perfect crisp condition. I love finding fabric in beautiful condition in second hand shops and markets – beautiful to look at and beautiful to feel.

About Theresa

My mother taught me to sew and knit when I was six years old. I had a toy sewing machine that really worked and I made clothes for my dolls. Later, I made clothes for myself as a teenager, then for my children when they were young. Now I love to discover vintage and recycled fabric, rescue them from the bottom shelves of opportunity shops and transform them in to bags and soft toys. As Seams Different, I love to see old fabric given new life, bringing colour and floral patterns out of the dark and in to the world where they belong.
